Sumifru continuously upholds our commitment to people and the environment. Through our Community Development Programs we contribute to the positive well - being of the communities in which we operate in by addressing 5 basic human needs: Shelter, Sustenance, Health, Education, Clean & Safe Environment.

(Shelter) Sumifru Shelter: Programs to provide Shelter to the members of the communities we operate in

Sumifru partners with Gawad Kalinga to build homes for families in need. We align with Gawad Kalinga’s noble goal to “build beautiful, healthy and productive communities where the poorest of the poor will live in dignity and can begin building a better future for themselves and their children.” We also support baranggay activities and initiatives to alleviate living conditions. To bring about infrastructure changes, especially in far-flung rural areas we partner with development projects for road construction and maintenance.

(Sustenance) Sumifru Green Life Club: Programs to provide proper nourishment and Sustenance to the members of the communities we operate in

Helping every family to Have Food Always in the Home (F.A.I.T.H.) by providing trainings and materials for small-scale farming, animal husbandry, processing local produce and other sustainable livelihood programs. Additionally we build partnerships with the local community in the production of quality bananas and other fresh fruits. This provides an alternative and productive source of income to communities, ensuring stability and development, thereby enhancing their quality of life.

(Education) Sumifru Bright Minds Club: Programs to provide Educational opportunities to the members of the communities we operate in

We aim to give less fortunate children access to education by making charitable donations to schools and other institutes for learning. These donations go into providing students with much-needed school supplies, covering school repairs and maintenance, funding scholarships grants for qualified students, equipping mobile learning centers with learning tools (e.g. computer and library) and supporting Adopt-a-School programs.

(Clean & Safe Environment) Sumifru Green Forest Club: Programs to give back to nature by maintaining a Clean and Safe Environment in the communities we operate in

An environment program to serve in protecting, rehabilitating and sustaining our environment especially in areas where we operate. Across our offices and farms we implement Solid Waste Management as well as raise public awareness and consciousness on environmental issues. Tree planting in buffer areas and adapting the use of organic banana farm inputs as alternative to synthetic fertilizers are also continuously being practiced.

Our efforts to help save the environment have been recognized by various government institutions on several occasions, to name a few:

2007 - Outstanding Achievement in Environment and Natural Resources Award - awarded by DENR Region XII

2009 - The “Most Promising Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) in Multi-Stakeholder Participation Award - Awarded by the DENR-Central Office in Diliman, Quezon City
